  • ST. JOSEPH — It was another trip to St.?Joseph and another Midland Empire Conference victory for Chillicothe High School’s tennis Hornets yesterday.

  • ST. JOSEPH — It was another trip to St.?Joseph and another Midland Empire Conference victory for Chillicothe High School’s tennis Hornets yesterday.
    One day after defeating Benton’s Cardinals 6-3, Aaron?Douglas’ Hornets shut out Bishop LeBlond’s Golden?Eagles 9-0 in MEC action.
    The Hornets, now 2-0 in league duals and 3-1 in all dual matches, received whitewash wins from?Grant Peterson in No. 2 singles and Jeremiah?Applebury in No. 6 singles, but also won three close sets along the way.
    Derek?Montgomery and Applebury nudged their No. 3 doubles foes 9-8 on a 7-5 tiebreaker. Montgomery won in No. 5 singles 8-6 and No. 1 singles player Wade Dietz played “astonishingly well,”?in coach?Douglas’ opinion, in taking Nolan?Naddski 8-5.
    Chase Reeter took No. 3 singles 8-3 and Gabe Poling won by the same score at No. 4. In doubles, the No. 1 CHS duo of Reeter and Gr.?Peterson prevailed 8-3, while Dietz teamed with?Poling for an
    8-2 No. 2 triumph.
    The tennis Hornets are in a tournament at Excelsior Springs today.
