  • After being the victim in the 2011 Chillicothe High School Lady?Hornets’ only three victories last spring, the Cameron soccer Lady?Dragons had plenty of motivation to play well when they visited Daryl?Danner Memorial Park yesterday. They also had a new weapon, which they exploited to score a 5-2 non-Midland Empire Conference road win.
Its ranks bolstered by the addition of senior All-State basketball player Anna Curtis, Cameron staked out a 4-0 lead in the opening 40 minutes and then added a fifth tally with about 15 minutes remaining before the Lady?Hornets picked up a couple of consolation goals to spoil the would-be shutout.
“Our team played poorly in the first half,”?Chillicothe head coach?Lance Harvey reflected. “Curtis hurt us on the back line with her speed.
“We played much better second half. We controlled the ball most of the half. Lindy Saunders seemingly scored on a penalty kick, but it was called back because of a violation for one of our players crossing into the penalty area too early. Cameron's goalkeeper then saved her second try.”
