Remember the record-breaking performance by the University of Missouri men’s basketball team this past season?
You will be able to relive some of those great moments from this past season and pay tribute to some of the players who made them possible when several former members of the Tigers take Barnstorming Tour 2012 to select Missouri cities, including Chillicothe, in April.
There will be a Barnstorming Tour 2012 basketball game at the Chillicothe High School gymnasium next Thursday, April 26.
It will be preceded by an autograph session and the opportunity to take photos with the former Tigers in the commons area of the high school between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., prior to the 7 p.m. game. The doors at the gym will open at 5:30 p.m.
The game between former University of Missouri basketball players is expected to include projected National?Basketball?Association draftee Kim English, reserve center Steve Moore, and 2011-12 starting guard Matt Pressey, as well as several others.
They will play against a group of selected 2011-12 high school seniors from northwest Missouri. The “Grand River All-Stars” team will include players from Chillicothe, Meadville Tri-County of Jamesport. Trenton, Cameron, Carrollton, and Conception Junction: Jefferson high schools, according to a news release from organizers.
Due to seating capacity limitations, only 1,200 tickets will be sold and may be purchased in advance at the Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce, Citizens Bank & Trust and Chillicothe State Bank in Chillicothe, and Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri NA and Citizens Bank & Trust in Trenton. All tickets might be sold in advance; if any are not, they will be available at the door the night of the game.
Organizing the game is David Devaney. He has contacted the Missouri High School Activities Association, the NCAA, the University of Missouri and other organizations to assure that all rules governing barnstorming tours, relative to the amateur and college eligibility status of participating players, will be followed, organizers report.
