2012 HS fall sports practices can begin Monday
The following notices regarding the beginning of preseason practices for 2012 Chillicothe High School fall sports have been received or obtained:
Girls' Tennis – Practices will start Monday, Aug. 6, and continue Monday through Friday from 8-10 a.m. at Daryl Danner Memorial Park courts. Players should bring a new can of tennis balls and be ready to work, according to new head coach Aaron Douglas
Boys' Soccer – Practices will start Monday, Aug. 6, at the new Jerry Litton Memoria Stadium, according to new head coach Tim Cunningham. The first practice will be from 7-8 a.m.
Football – The first day of twice-a-day practices for seniors through freshmen will be Monday, Aug. 6, at the new Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium. Players and those attending will need to park in the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center parking lot, due to the paving project at the CHS north lot. The morning practice will begin at 8:30 a.m. and evening practice at 6 p.m. during 2-a-days, according to head coach Phil Willard.
Cross Country – The first practice will be Monday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m., meeting in the area of Simpson Park south of the Chillicothe Aquatic Center (swimming pool). Runners should have good running shoes and a drink with them, coach Tim Riekena reports.
Volleyball – Organizational meeting Monday, Aug. 6, 6:30 p.m., in CHS gym, according to head coach Karen Jackson
Girls' Golf – Meet at high school Monday, Aug. 6, 8 a.m. Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 7, practices will be at Green Hills Golf Course at 8 a.m. until school starts, according to coach Vickie Garrett
Softball – Monday, 8 a.m., Daryl Danner Memorial Park; players should bring their cleats and tennis shoes, water, and appropriate dress for practicing and the weather, according to head coach Stan Baldwin
Preseason practices for Meadville High School's 2012 softball teams will commence next Monday, Aug. 6, head coach Darren Smith has announced.
The girls' team will practice from 4-6 p.m. and the boys' from 6-8 p.m.
Passage of a physical examination and submission of the accompanying confirmation paperwork is required before an athlete may begin practice. Completed physical exam forms can be taken to or sent to the school or brought with the athlete to the first practice.
