  • $2,000 Haircut

    • email print
  • Steve Shoot, retired from Farmers' Electric Cooperative, volunteered to have his head shaved to raise funds for FEC's Area Youth Benefit Fund, which provides financial assistance to families in need of paying their children's medical bills. The privilege of shaving his head was auctioned Sunday — selling for $2,000. The actual sheering took place during the AYBF's golf tournament at Green Hills Golf Course Monday. Here, FEC Board President Ron Cornett begins the process of cutting off all of Shoot's hair. Cornett and nine others (Ken Lauhoff, Ray Horton, Mike Sanders, Charlie Merrill, Paul Steele, Ed Turner, Kelly Poling, Mike Miller, and Dr. Jason Gault), pledged $100 dollars each to reach the $1,000 minimum set by Shoot. BTC Bank then matched the donation to make Shoot's haircut the highest bid item of the auction Sunday evening.
