  • Marie Joyce (Brooks) Frerer passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012, surrounded by her family.
    Marie was born June 13, 1929, in Jasper County, Mo., to Chester L Brooks and Ethel Edna (Bowers) Brooks.
    She married Joseph L Frerer, Jr., on September 2, 1950, at Zion Baptist Church east of Jasper, Mo. Together they raised six children.
    She was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church and a member of Jasper VFW Post 6415 Ladies Auxiliary. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Production Credit and University of Missouri Extension Office in Carthage, Mo. She was a homemaker and, in later years, worked at Little Folks Daycare.
    Survivors include three sons, Michael L Frerer (Shirley) of Carthage, Mo., Fred B Frerer (Raye) Duquesne, Mo., and Mark W Frerer (Mary) of Carl Junction, Mo.; three daughters, Susan M Myers (Steven) of Jasper, Mo., Rebecca Ann Terrill (Bill) of Carthage, Mo., and Rachel Jan Sturm (Paul) of Chillicothe, Mo.
    Additional survivors include one sister, Edna Lorraine Walker; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Ralph E. Brooks; and two sisters, Daisy Evelyn Wagstrom and Velma Dee Lawton.
    Visitation was from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, with funeral services being held on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m., at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, Mo.
    Memorial contributions to Gideons International, in care of the funeral home.
    Arrangements are under the care and direction of Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, Mo.
