Mary Louise Shinneman, 96, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at St. Joseph's Bluff, Jefferson City, Mo.

Mary was born Dec. 3, 1915, in rural Chillicothe, the daughter of Harry H. and Cordelia May (Myers) McCormick. She was united in marriage to Thomas "Bradford" Shinneman on Dec. 25, 1935, at her family's residence in rural Chillicothe. Following Bradford's tragic death on Oct. 19, 1961, she remained a widow for 51 years.

Mary enjoyed sewing and tending to her yard. She took complete care of her father, mother, and brother in their invalid years, and also cared for her brother up to the final months when he was transferred to the nursing home. A debilitating stroke in Nov. 2008 forced Mary to leave her home and move to St. Joseph's Bluff, to be closer to family.

Survivors include one great nephew, ralph Haynes and wife Janine of Jefferson City, Mo.; one great-great nephew, Keith Haynes; one great-great niece, Leiha Bohannon and husband Bronson; and one great-great-great niece, Jane Bohannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas; one infant son, Bobbie Gene Shinneman in 1936; and one brother, Ralph "Jewel" McCormick.

Graveside services will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Mo., on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, on saturday, Sept. 2, 2012, from noon to 5 p.m. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or be spontaneous and invest your time in a random act of kindness as a celebration of her life, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
