Iva Martin Pickett, 83, of Carrollton, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at her son's home, in Dearborn, Mo.

Iva was born Dec. 12, 1928, to Ernest and Margaret (Hoiwley) Martin, in Wimauma, Fla.

She attended school in Portsmouth, Va. On Nov. 13, 1948, Iva married Robert Henry Pickett in Portsmouth. To this union, they were blessed with six children: Robert, Sharon, Nathan, William, James, and Jeffery.

Iva served as a full-time minister for 28 years for the Jehovah's Witness.

Iva is survived by her children — Robert Stephan Pickett of Jacksonville, Fla., Sharon Elizabeth Laing of Lee's Summitt, Mo., and Nathan Andrew Pickett of Dearborn, Mo.; one sister — Ernestine Martin Cary of Portsmouth, Va.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henry Pickett; three sons — William Gregory, James Ernest, and Jeffery Scott; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at 3 p.m., with Brother Kim Major officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service, starting at 1 p.m. Burial will be at the Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, Mo.
