Larry Smith, 69, of Meadville, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at his home.

Larry Lee was born the son of Charles and Maxine (Quinton) Murray Smith on Oct. 21, 1942, in Brookfield, Mo. On April 9, 1988, he married Sandra McDaniel.

He was retired from ConStar in Kansas City, Kan., where he had worked as a purchasing agent for many years. He was a Boy Scout Leader when he lived in Raytown.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy, of the home; seven children — Donna Best and husband, Steve, of Blue Springs, Mo., Kathy Ruddell and husband, Brad, of Greenwood, Larry Hadley and wife, Kris, of Greenwood, Deana Vochatzer and husband, Brian, of Meadville, and Greg Smith, Mark Smith, and Pam Smith, all of Kansas City; 14 grandchildren — Heather Hay and husband, Adam, Megan Best and Cody Best, all of Blue Springs, Leslie Miller and husband, David, of Grain Valley, Candice Whenham and husband, Donald, of Lone Jack, Justin Hadley of Kansas City, Alex Hadley and Anna Hadley, both of Greenwood, Brittanee Vochatzer of Hale, Austin Vochatzer, Logan Vochatzer, and Remington Vochatzer, all of Meadville, Andrea Bratrude of Chillicothe, and Tony Smith of Kansas City; and four great-grandchildren — Evelyn Hay of Blue Springs, Kate Miller and Kason Miller, both of Grain Valley, and Mylie Whenham of Lone Jack.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Art Murray.

A funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Meadville. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until time for the services.
