Starting on Monday, weather permitting, the Chillicothe Street Department will be chip-sealing several streets within the city limits.
This process will be covering the road with liquid asphalt and covering that with a bituminous material, (coal slag).
“We are expecting this process to last for two weeks total for the project,” said Street Superintendent Barry Arthur.
Each street should take no more than a day to complete.
“During this time, we are asking the residents to have your cars parked off of the street and adjoining shoulder area,” he said. “This will make certain no overspray from the liquid asphalt occurs.”
The street will be closed temporarily during this operation and will be reopened the same day. Flaggers will be present to aid the traveling public.
Arthur urges motorists to use caution in the work zones.
