Linda Jane Burton, 58, of Aurora, Mo., died at 11:39 a.m., on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at her home.

She was born Nov. 8, 1953, in Knoxville, Iowa, and lived most of her early years in Kirksville, Mo. On July 1, 1989, she married Bennie Burton in Chula, Mo. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2009.

In 1988, she moved to the Aurora community and was currently working in housekeeping for Cox Hospital in Monett. Linda loved yard sales, auctions and going to the casino.

She is survived by her two children, Jeremy Clay and his wife, Kim, of Aurora and Athena Melnicki and her husband, Michael, of Lees Summit, Mo.; her mother, Lucy Leasman and her husband, Herb, of Kirksville; four sisters, Sueanna Hannah and her husband, Larry, of Kirksville, Brenda Smith of Cortland, Ohio, Joyce Cawthorne and her husband, Steve, of Jackson, Mo., and Sharon Tarlton of Fulton, Mo.; two grandchildren, Riley and Leo Melnicki; two stepsons, Donald Burton and his wife, Angie, of Springfield, Daren Burton of Nashville, Tenn.; and five step grandsons, Eric, Matthew, Seth, Tyler and Andrew Burton.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, with burial at the Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, prior to the funeral.
