Mary Crookshanks, 93, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at her residence.

Mary was born the daughter of Charles and Edna (Gay) Dayton on Sept. 28, 1919, in Chillicothe, Mo. She was a Chillicothe High School graduate. Mary was united in marriage to William Floyd Crookshanks, on Dec. 8, 1945, in Olathe, Kan. After they were married they moved to a farm in Browning, Missouri. In 1976 they returned to Chillicothe. He preceded her in death in Aug. 1984.

Mary ran a daycare, she loved going on walks, visiting with friends, and flowers.

She is survived by two sons, Bill Crookshanks, and wife Denise, of Aurora, Mo., and Randy Crookshanks, and wife Cindy, of Chillicothe, Mo.; two brothers, Larry Dayton, of Chillicothe, Mo., and Russell Dayton, of Cameron, Mo.; one sister, Emma Ponclet, of Chillicothe, Mo.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Edward Dayton, Charles Dayton, and Glen Dayton; five sisters, Millie Dayton, Elsie Hall, Nigel Siedel, Nora Shearer, and Garnet Whitacre.

Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. There will be a family visitation on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, from 12 noon until 9 p.m.

Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Mo.
