More than 60 singers from the Chillicothe area met Tuesday for the first practice of the Chillicothe Area Community Choir which is sponsored by the Chillicothe Area Arts Council.

Adults and high school students who want to join the choir but were unable to make the first practice are welcome to join the practice from 7 until 9 p.m. this tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Chillicothe United Methodist Church, 1414 Walnut (use the south entrance).

The choir will practice each Tuesday and perform "The Music of Christmas" concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16, at Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center in Chillicothe.

The choir is being directed by Frank Thomas, retired director of choral activities at Missouri Western State University. Carolyn Johnson, director of music at First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, is the accompanist, and Betty Preston-Steel and Mary Willis, two well-known Chillicothe musicians, are coordinating the event for the arts council.
