James A. Brunscher, 90, of Bogard, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Mo.

Jim was born July 14, 1922, to Frank and Beulah (Hall) Brunscher in Peck, Kan. On April 29, 1946, Jim married Frances Jean Ellis. To this union, they were blessed with eight children.

Jim graduated from high school in 1940. He was drafted in the U.S. Army 6th Division from 1942-1946, where he served in the South Pacific Theater, and was wounded at New Guinea in 1944. Following the Army, Jim was a rural mail carrier and a farmer. Jim enjoyed hunting, trapshooting, playing and coaching baseball, and playing and collecting fiddles and mandolins. Jim was a member of the Coloma Baptist Church, the VFW Post # 1773 and the D.A.V.

Jim is survived by his wife, Frances of the home; six daughters, Eileen Carter and husband, Patrick of Kansas City, Mo., Coleen Daugherty and husband, Gene of Smithville, Mo., Jeannie Jenkins and husband, Steve of Tina, Mo., Nancy Sutton and husband, Keith of Jamesport, Mo., Pat Newton and husband, Dale of Dayton, Ohio, Jany Kerby and husband, John of Merriam, Kan.; one son, Bill Brunscher and wife, Connie of Bogard, Mo.; one sister, Esther Kastner of Modesto, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, Brian Beck, Sara Beck and partner, Angie Bacon, Lori and Tom Rickman, Aaron and Stephanie Daugherty, Russell Brunscher, David and Carrie Brunscher, Jarred Jenkins, Craig Jenkins and partner, April Tietjens, Jeremy and Heather Sutton, Tim and Brandi Sutton, Tiffany and Josh Souders, Scott Turner, Philip Newton, Samantha Newton, Kelsey Wiggins and Haylee Wiggins; four step-grandchildren, Matthew and Joanna Newton, Shawn and Lisa Carter, Kendra Kerby, Kayla and Ian Gray; nineteen great-grandchildren and seven step- great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Melvin Dale in infancy; and one brother, Melvin Brunscher.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, from 6-8 p.m., at Bittiker Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Bittiker Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Trussell officiating.

Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bogard, Mo. Military Services will be conducted by Pence-Lovell-England Post # 1773.
