Reva Melissa (Alexander) Smith, 98, of Meadville, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Livingston Manor, Chillicothe.
Reva was born in Linneus on May 3, 1914, the daughter of Elmer ad Mildred (Cooper) Alexander. On Jan. 14, 1934, she married Glenn Smith, who preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2004. The couple was married for 70 years.
Reva graduated from Linneus High School in 1932. She was a homemaker, and had spent many hours making quilts and cooking meals for her family. She was a devoted member of the Meadville Church of Christ. After moving from the farm to Meadville in 1968, she and Glenn were the school custodians, and she helped with the cooking in the school cafeteria.
Survivors include one son, Virgil Smith and wife, Janeta, Meadville; four grandchildren, Joy Main and husband, Jerry Lynn, Bucklin, Jill Angell and husband, Jed, Centralia, Darren Smith and wife, Jackie, Meadville, and Blaine Smith and wife, Mishelle, Meadville; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at 2 p.m., at the Meadville Church of Christ. Friends may stop by Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Meadville, on Friday, from 1 until 6 p.m., and the family will receive friends on Saturday, at the Meadville Church of Christ, from 1 p.m. until the time of the services.
Burial will be at Meadville Cemetery, Meadville, Mo.
Memorials in honor of Reva Smith may be made to Meadville R-IV School (to be used for the Athletic Department), or the Meadville Cemetery.
