20-foot hole dug at Polk and Broadway

Crews with Central Caisson, of Diamond, Mo. (near the Joplin area) used a large auger system to dig a hole six feet across by 20 feet deep just east of the intersection of Polk and Broadway streets on Thursday afternoon (Nov. 15). The hole will eventually house a self-supporting steel tower for 69 kV transmission line — line that will be re-routed as a first step of sorts in the planned restructuring of Route V.
