You can put yourself into the Christmas spirit from noon until 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6 when the Chillicothe Area Arts Council presents a Christmas Cultural Luncheon at the First Christian Church, 900 Jackson Street.
"Most of us really enjoy listening to and singing Christmas music," Marsha Leopard, president of the Chillicothe Area Arts Council said. "For this event, the Chillicothe High School Select Choir, under the direction of vocal instructor Penny Denton, will perform several selections of Christmas music. This will be followed by the audience singing carols with Ms. Denton serving as song leader and Betty Preston-Steele, a well-known local and area organist and pianist, providing the accompaniment," Leopard said. "The First Christian Church has joined us in this effort, and is generously sharing their church with the community for this event. Their sanctuary is beautiful, and especially so at Christmas time," she said.
A soup lunch will be served at noon in the church social hall. The program will begin in the church sanctuary at 12:25 p.m.
The catered lunch cost is $5; the program is free. A person does not have to buy lunch to attend the program. Those wanting lunch must make a reservation by calling the arts office at 646-1173, or by e-mailing the arts office at firstname.lastname@example.org The deadline for lunch reservations is at noon, Tuesday, Dec. 4. An elevator is available at the church.
