  • Livingston County has been awarded $5,305 in federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter Program of The Federal Emergency Management Agency.
A local board made up of representatives from agencies, government officials, churches, and members at large will determine how the funds awarded to Livingston County will be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs provided by local service agencies.
Under terms of the grant from the national board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, be eligible to receive federal funds, have an accounting system, practice non-discrimination, and have demonstrated the capacity to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs.
If they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board.
Qualifying agencies are urged to apply. Public or private agencies interested in applying must contact Major John Flanagan at The Salvation Army, 621 Mohawk Road, (660) 646-3538 for an application. The deadline for applications to be received is 9 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 10. The local board will meet at 10 a.m., that day, to determine how the funds will be allocated.
