Chillicothe Fire Chief Darrell Wright met with Andy Bailey, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hills, on Wednesday morning (Nov. 28), to go over the final stages of NWS StormReady certification within the city of Chillicothe, as well as discussed expanding the certification to a county-wide level. StormReady, Bailey explained, is a measuring stick by which an area's storm preparedness is quantified. The plan makes said areas more resilient both before and after severe storms strike by noting both the strengths and weaknesses of their response personnel and resources.
