Junior safety Tyler Clampitt of the Chillicothe Hornets is one of 18 high school players from schools in the C-T coverage area to be named to the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association's all-northwest district team announced today.
In addition to the lone CHS representative, the squads for Class 1, Class 2, and combined Classes 3-5 are populated by seven members of the Class 1 state champion Hamilton Hornets, six from the Polo Panthers, and five Trenton Bulldogs.
In addition to the 19 area players honored, Polo head coach Kyle Ross was selected by the media group's members as the district's top Class 1 coach for the 2012 season.
The seven Hamilton players tabbed by the regional media panel, which purposely limits honorees to recognition on one side of the ball except in extraordinary circumstances, are senior offensive linemen Matt LaPiana and Jake Angle, senior tight end Jalen Richman, senior running back Derrick Hughes, senior defensive lineman Kolby Reeder, senior defensive back Devan Hughes, and sophomore defensive back Kellen Overstreet. Most of them also figure to have places on the MSSA's All-State teams which will be announced soon.
Chosen from Polo's Class 1 district runnersup (to Hamilton) were running back Zach Freeman, linebacker Justin Hicks, defensive linemen Daniel Boruch and Wiley Martin, defensive back Dalton Mills, and offensive lineman Houston Stone. Stone is a junior and Martin a sophomore, while the rest are seniors.
Plucked from 5-5 Trenton's ranks were offensive lineman Wyatt Coffman, wide receiver Colby Larson, linebacker Dalton Burkeybile, kick returner Austin Taul, and placekicker Seth Acton. All five are seniors.
