Chillicothe, Mo. – The Livingston County 4-H and FFA Fair Association, a non profit that supports and enhances educational activities for youth of Livingston County has received a donation of $5,000 from Chula Farmers' Cooperative and CoBank as part of the bank's "Sharing Success" program.
The donation will be used to fund educational programs, including 4-H and FFA, which helps mold future leaders by teaching them the decision making, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills they can use in all phases of their lives.
"The Livingston County 4-H and FFA Fair benefits the entire community by promoting lifelong learning and the common goal of creating positive change through knowledge," said Dan Murphy, general manager of Chula Farmers' Cooperative. "We are honored to team up with CoBank to help the Livingston County Fair achieve those objectives."
"This donation from our friends at Chula Farmers' Cooperative and CoBank will allow us to continue to provide the services and research based programs that are so important to the youth in our community," said David Beck, President, Livingston County 4-H and FFA Fair Board.
The contribution is part of CoBank's "Sharing Success" program, a $3 million matching grant program designed to benefit cooperatives and charitable groups they support throughout rural America. Coinciding with the United Nations' "International Year of Cooperatives," CoBank will match contributions by its cooperative customers to nonprofit organizations of their choice for the remainder of 2012, or until the fund is exhausted. The gifts will be matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis, from a minimum of $1000 up to a maximum of $5000.
"Shared Success is a hallmark of the cooperative business model," said Robert B. Engel, CoBank's president and chief executive officer. "Throughout rural America, cooperatives of all sizes are working not only to provide value to their members but to improve the quality of life in their local communities. We're delighted that Chula Farmers' Cooperative has taken advantage of the Sharing Success program and that they are using it to support such a worthy cause."
