In honor of Chrstmas I reead Gift of the Magi by O’ Henry. It is one of those short stories that is so bitter sweet. A young couple that has very little money has only two possessions they truly treasure, the man has a pocket watch owned by his grandfather and the woman has her long luxurious hair. On Christmas Eve the woman is desperate to find the man a present. In desperation she sells her hair to afford a platinum watch chain. Satisfied that she has a good gift and returns home. The story ends when she discovers that in her man had sold his watch to get her a pair of silver combs for her hair. Talk about bitter sweet.
