Midday games for Norborne called off, due to snow
TRENTON · Today's (Monday, Dec. 31) schedule in the 2012 North Central Missouri College Foundation-sponsored High School Holiday Hoops event has been impacted by the weather, although at the time of this late-morning posting the Chillicothe Lady Hornets' contest tonight had not been affected.
Two early-afternoon games involving Norborne's girls' and boys' teams – the boys against Cainsville and girls against Gallatin – were cancelled early this morning, event publicist Teresa Cross announced via e-mail just after 7:30 a.m.
As a snowstorm with potential for producing one to three inches of new snow cover, according to weather forecasters, continued to approach, six other games still were scheduled as of 10 a.m.
Two morning games – the Hale girls versus Cainsville at 9 a.m. and Hale boys against Gilman City at 10:30 a.m. – were not impacted, since no snow had been sighted in Chillicothe as of 9:45 a.m.
Potentially at risk are the four afternoon/night session games: 4 p.m. – Gallatin vs. Putnam County boys; 5:30 p.m. – Hamilton vs. Putnam County girls; 7 p.m. – Hamilton vs. Schuyler County boys; 8:30 p.m. – Chillicothe vs. Schuyler County girls.
The event does not have any action scheduled for tomorrow, New Year's Day. Four more games are slated for Wednesday afternoon and night and two Thursday night.
