A workshop and demonstration on prescribed burns will be offered by the Missouri Department of Conservation beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Poosey Conservation Area in northwest Livingston County. The site is on the west side of Indian Creek Community Lake on the area and reached of Route U.
The workshop is free, but advance registration by Jan. 16 is requested. Participants will learn how to safely conduct a prescribed burn, using fire to help manage CRP fields and to boost native plants and habitat useful to wildlife. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. A demonstration burn will be conducted if weather permits. Participants should wear leather boots bring leather gloves.
