JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Representative Mike Lair, R-Chillicothe, has been named Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations - Education. Selected by the Speaker of the House, Timothy Jones, Lair will play a key role in developing Missouri's next education budget.

"I am pleased the Speaker has again entrusted me with this tremendous responsibility, it is truly a great honor," said Lair. "Our state continues to face significant financial challenges and numerous educational needs. As the committee develops a new budget recommendation, I am optimistic that both sides of the political spectrum can come together and do what is necessary for the educational needs of our state."

The first meeting of the House Committee on Appropriations - Education is scheduled to occur on January 15, 2013.
