  • The candidate filing period for municipal and school boards, along with an assortment of other boards, closes at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
As of press time, the city of Chillicothe had a full slate of candidates for most offices up for election, and there were no contests. The only positions without candidates at this point are those for city treasurer and city attorney, which both have an annual salary of just $1.
All but one currently elected official are seeking re-election. They are Mayor Chuck Haney, Constable Richard L. Knouse, Clerk Rozanne Frampton, Auditor Theresa Gatson Kelly, 1st Ward Councilman Reed Dupy, 2nd Ward Councilman Wayne D. Cunningham, 3rd Ward Councilman Tom Douglas, and Councilman-at-Large David M. Moore. Fourth Ward Councilwoman Pam Jarding chose not to seek re-election. Paul Howard, a former 4th Ward councilman, has filed for this position.
Only two candidates are currently filed for the two open seats on the Chillicothe R-2 Board of Education. Current board member Robin Westphal is seeking re-election to her three-year seat. Newcomer Robin L. Quinn is seeking the remaining spot, left vacant by the decision of current board president David Meneely back in early December 2012 to not return to the board in 2013-14, after four years of service. If no more candidates file for this election cycle, the matter will not be put to a vote in the April 2 election, and Quinn and Westphal will take the open seats outright.
The Chillicothe Ambulance District is seeking one director for a term of three years for District 3 (3rd Ward) and District 6 (Chillicothe Township, Cream Ridge Township, Green Township, Jackson Township, Monroe Township, Mooresville Township and Sampsel Township). Those who have filed include: Pat Henry for District 6, filed Dec. 11, and Richard B. Smith for District 3, filed Jan. 10.
Three four-year trustees will also be elected to the Livingston County Health Center Board. Thus far, those who have filed include: Darlene Hughes, who filed on Dec. 11, Alvina Benskin, who filed Dec. 11, and Doug Doughty, who filed Dec. 26.
