Community advocates throughout northwest Missouri are invited to attend Great Northwest Day at the Capital Feb. 5-6.

This event, focused on raising awareness of Northwest Missouri to State Legislators and departments, features an introduction on the House and Senate floors, a regional luncheon, department roundtables and an educational breakfast. The Mardi-Gras themed main event on Tuesday night provides an opportunity for community representatives to promote their corners of the region to legislators and others who are invited to attend.

"The Great Northwest Day at the Capitol event is about raising awareness of issues impacting our region with decision makers in Jefferson City," states event chair Luke Reven. "Our event has grown each year for more than 10 years because of the willingness of individuals from across the region to volunteer their time and energy to make the event a success.

In addition to Chillicothe and Livingston County, participating (sponsoring) communities are: Andrew County, Atchison County, Bethany/Harrison County, Brookfield/Linn County, Caldwell County, Cameron/DeKalb County, Clinton County, Daviess County, Gentry County, Grant City/Worth County, Marceline/Linn County, Maryville/Nodaway County, Mercer County, St. Joseph/Buchanan County, Sullivan County, and Trenton/Grundy County.
