With the most recent influenza outbreak in Chillicothe (as well as across the United States), the Livingston County Health Center has been displaying a few wise words of wisdom to those in the area on their changeable sign along Washington Street/US Hwy. 65 recently: "Stay home if you're sick!" The flu is spread through person-to-person contact or repiratory droplets sprayed during a cough or sneeze. Either way, an infected person must come in contact with an uninfected person, or with their surroundings, to pass the illness (and can do so a day before showing symptoms, and up to a week after getting sick), so keeping the sick confined until the illness passes is wise advice.
