She was an only child and was very close to her parents as well as her Aunt Lilly and Uncle Frank and their 11 children. She grew up in the Christian Faith which provided her with great solace. Ruth worked for several years for the American Can Company until her mother became unable to live by herself and moved in with Ruth and Orville. They had no children. Orville died in 1980 and Ruth managed quite well in their home and maintained their beautiful yard and flowers, that she so enjoyed.
In 1999 she moved to Assisted Living at Heritage Village in Gladstone and in 2005 moved to Golden Age Nursing Home.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband and first cousins: Carol Lamb and husband Russell, Richard Gilliland, Grace Smith and husband Chancey, Pat Gilliland and wife Geraldine.
