  • Chillicothe city council members will meet in this evening (Monday), beginning with a workshop at 5:30 p.m., to discuss construction progress at Chilli Bay, the city's new water park.
The workshop will be in the conference room at City Hall, and be followed by the city's regular meeting at 6:30 p.m., in the council chambers.
Agenda items for the regular meeting include Airport Manager Bill Kieffer leading discussion regarding an aviation consultant agreement. An ordinance will be presented for the council's consideration.
Also tonight, City Administrator Ike Holland will discuss and present an ordinance regarding a contract for the housing of prisoners.
The city plans to enter into a contract with the Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail to house city inmates. Chillicothe had used the Livingston County Jail; however, the county closed its jail operation last month.
In an arrangement similar to its contract with Livingston County, the Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail will provide detention and transportation services for offenders being held for the city of Chillicothe. The proposed contract calls for the city to pay the regional jail $30 per day, per inmate.
In response to the jail's closing, discussions are taking place regarding the future of dispatching services. The Livingston County Commission were meeting this morning to discuss a contract with the city for dispatching services.
In other agenda items, the administrator plans to schedule meeting dates for the discussion of city property and budget workshops.
