The city of Chillicothe was covered in a blanket of white this morning (Wednesday), as persons traveled to their places of work, and buses transported students to a day of school despite the snow and ice. In Simpson Park, the leaves and branches of trees were lined with droplets of freezing snow. Snow continued throughout the morning, prompting the Chillicothe School District to issue an early out, with classes dismissing at 1 p.m. Temperatures were expected to remain below freezing throughout the day, staying at a steady 26-27 degrees, then beginning to dip at 6 p.m., until they reach the teens on Thursday, and then into the single digits overnight, and into early Friday morning. Chillicothe received 1.48 inches of moisture (mostly in the form of rain on Tuesday) for the 24-hour period ending at 8 a.m. today.
