I LOVE STORIES is the theme for a new series of Thursday evening programs to be offered by the Children's Library in the lower level of Livingston County Library, at 450 Locust Street in Chillicothe.
The four story times will be presented from 6 until 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 7; March 7; April 18; and May 16.
The value of sharing stories is often the theme in books for all ages.
"Stories can entertain as well as teach and they offer the opportunity for listeners to share an experience," said Children's Librarian Judith Shoot. "When a child and caring adult experience an event together, it offers the opportunity for further conversation, which is an important part of language development."
Stories read aloud also offer vocabulary and sentence structure not always found in everyday speech, she added.
All families with young children are encouraged to attend any or all of these programs.
