Dorothy Kirby, 77, a resident of Long Beach, Calif., former resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Long Beach, Calif.
Dorothy was born the daughter of Edward Porter and Allie Leona (Woldridge) Lamb on Sept. 17, 1935, in Trenton, Mo. She married John Kirby on Aug. 8, 1954, at the First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Mo. He survives of the home.
They have been residents of Long Beach, Calif., for the past 58 years. She was a member of the Emmanuel Church of Lakewood, Lakewood, Calif. Her hobbies included, reading, collecting, cooking, and reading cookbooks. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband. She enjoyed a nice chat on the phone with family and friends.
Survivors include husband, John Kirby, of the home; five nieces, Sheri Lester, Long Beach, Calif., Gwenda Oneth, Independence, Mo., Cheryl Hecox, Keokuk, Mo., Debbie Kirby, Taylor, Mo., and Gayle Lynn Kirby, Palmira, Mo.; and one nephew, Michael Kirby, Palmira, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Lamb; mother, Allie Leona Rosson; step-father, John Rosson; and brother, Donald Eugene Lamb.
Graveside service will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Mo., on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Friday from 12 until 9 p.m.
