Tuesday's non-CLAA area HS basketball roundup

GREEN CITY — The Linn County boys clinched at least a share of the Tri-County Conference title to highlight Tuesday night’s non-CLAA Tournament high school basketball action in the C-T coverage area.
Damon Collins’ Mustangs (14-6, 6-1) came back from five points down at halftime on the road to defeat Green City’s Gophers 47-41.
Ty Stillwell’s six points in the final frame led LCHS’ boys as they overcame a 33-31 deficit after three periods.
The Mustangs had great scoring balance as eight players scored and all had between four and eight points. Stillwell had eight and Josh Allen and reserve Spencer Hostetter seven each.
Green City was paced by Carter King’s game-high 15 points.
Linn County’s girls (11-8, 3-4) were three down at halftime, but prevailed in overtime by two, 40-38.
Kerstin Wilson led the Lady Mustangs’ scoring with 12 points. Cammie Ward contributed eight. For Green City, Alicia Albrecht had a game-best 18 and Emily Sorenson 12.
Linn County’s next action is due to be at home against Milan Thursday.

KING CITY — Fifty-one was the winning number in the Grand River Conference doubleheader with each school taking away one victory.
BHS’ Bobcats (15-5, 5-2) received 25 points – 11 in the opening period and 20 before intermission – from senior star Jesse Utt as it coasted to victory. Kyle Kelly chipped in eight in the triumph.
King City got 13 from John Spiking.
The girls’ contest was tight from start to finish, but the Lady ’Cats (10-10, 3-4) could never get over the hump.
Morgan Miller led the Lady Wildkats to victory with 16 points with Bridgett Bryson netting 12 and Brittany Bryson 11. Braymer had 19 from Sadie Watson and 10 by Madison Mallory.
Braymer is to visit Jamesport: Tri-County Thursday for non-league play.

(G) Hamilton 64, East Buchanan 46  (B) East Buchanan 54, Hamilton 34
GOWER — Up only three at halftime, Hamilton’s girls (17-2, 4-1) took command with a 17-5 third stanza.
Lantz Morrow had 11 points as the Hornets (2-14, 1-4) lost again.
Hamilton is to visit Mid-Buchanan for more KCI Conference play Friday.

STANBERRY — Sammie Jo Copeland scored 16 points to show the way for the Lady Panthers (17-5, 5-1).
PHS’ boys (8-14, 2-4) trailed 15-2 after one period and never got in the game. Jack Pile scored 11 points.
Polo is to host Worth County Friday.

JAMESPORT — Colton Hartley scored 43 in the Cardinals’ win. Dillon Cook had 19 and Johnny Merten 13, and Tyler Lane 11 for the beaten Mustangs (3-16, 1-6).
Sam Hutchinson’s six led the Lady Mustangs (1-17, 0-7). MHS’ Courtney Owens had 30 and Sierra Michaelis 24.
