CMS and Central School is hosting visiting author, Rub Buyea of Massachusetts, today (Monday, Feb. 11) and tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb. 12). The author will be giving three presentations at CMS and two at Central (one for each grade level). As in past years, students from Chula will join the middle school for this event. Mr. Buyea will also meet with select reader groups during his visit and be autographing books.

Buyea is the author of the 2012-2013 Mark Twain-nominated book, Because of Mr. Terupt and its sequel, Mr. Terupt Falls Again. The Mark Twain Award winner is selected each year by student vote from a list of only 12 titles chosen by student and librarian readers across the state. Other honors garnered by this title include the Indies Choice/E.B. White Honor Book, Cybils Middle Grade Award Finalist 2010, and New Voices Pick by the Association of Booksellers for Children.

Mr. Buyea, who taught third and fourth grade in Connecticut for six years, now lives in Massachusetts with his wife and three daughters. He teaches biology and coaches wrestling at Northfield Mount Herman School.
