  • Underwater search teams were out at several Livingston County river locales on Wednesday (Feb. 13).
Per the request of the Livingston County Sheriff’s office, the Water Patrol Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol was brought in to search several six-foot-plus areas of water, as part of a local investigation.
“We had some hot leads that stolen property had been dumped [at said location],” explained Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox on Thursday morning.
Local authorities reported that they do not have the equipment necessary for such deep dives.
Cox stated that their leads said that the alleged theft perpetrators dumped the aforementioned property because they were “fearful that [authorities] were about to arrest them.” He would not reveal names, what the stolen merchandise was suspected to be, or whether or not officers had recovered said items as of Thursday.
“We’re still trying to finish our case,” Cox said. “Although we are following additional leads, we believe the courts would be more impressed if those responsible were to come forward without being prompted by a law enforcement officer.”
