William E. Wimmer, 83, a resident of Hale, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.

William was born the son of Earl and Opal (Monson) Wimmer on June 1, 1929, in Hale, Mo. He married Aline Gironde on Sept. 28, 1955, in France. She preceded him in death 11 weeks earlier on Nov. 28, 2012.

He was a 1947 Chillicothe High School graduate, Chillicothe, Mo.

William served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sargent during the Korean War where he was stationed for four years in St. Mihiel, France.

He operated his own automotive repair shop in Hale, Mo., in the late 50's and 60's. He also worked as a mechanic for Shull Chevrolet in Brunswick from 1970 to 1990, and as NAPA parts manager at MFA in Hale. Upon retirement he worked for Copeland Construction, Chillicothe, Mo. William was a member of the Vern R Glick Post 25 of Chillicothe and the Disabled Veterans of America.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Potter and husband Frank, Carrollton, Mo., and Cynthia Wimmer, Ashland, Mo.; two grandsons, Scott W. McBee, Kansas City, Mo., and Travis A. McBee and wife Amanda, Kansas City, Mo.; one great-grandson, Xander McBee, and one great-granddaughter, Juliana McBee due March 4, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Aline.

Services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Mo., on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at 10 a.m. A family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Mo., on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. Friends may call the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Mo., on Monday from 12 until 9 p.m. Burial will be held at Hale Cemetery, Hale, Mo.
