Amid a rise in construction permits and speculation that two large retailers are looking at Osage Beach locations has city official anticipating a year of growth, development and new opportunities.
With Dierbergs scheduled to open April 16, it now looks like Dick's Sporting Goods along with Bed Bath & Beyond will be joining the development on Osage Beach Parkway across from the Osage Beach Premium Outlets.
City officials have not received confirmation from the retailers but the contractors said Dick's is scheduled for an opening date in late fall followed by Bed Bath and Beyond in the spring of 2014.
That, combined with a strong trend in the number of construction permits issued in January, is good news for Osage Beach, according to City Administrator Nancy Viselli.
January permits for 2013 doubled what was issued in 2012.
The permits issued in January 2013 include a a single family home at $380,000, a single family home at $210,000, plus three duplexes at
$183,000 each for a total of $1,292,000 on the residential end. Commercial added another $283,055.
Completed commercial construction in 2012 totaled $14,441,957.
The largest commercial developments included Dierbergs at $8.5 million,
Prewitt's Point at $1.6 million, upgrades at Kapilana Estates at $897,547, and remodeling an existing building at
Completed residential construction in 2012 totaled $3,404,231. The three largest residential projects were single family homes - $460,000, $424,000 and an addition to an existing home totaling $691,906.
