Mark Your Calendar (March 7-13)
Here are a few fun things to do this week, right in your own backyard!
Friday, March 8th
Bookworm Club for 3-5 year olds, Adair County Public Library
Ponder the universal question, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” during the month of March at the Public Library. Preschoolers are invited to explore the “chicken” side of the debate at 10:30 am with chicken stories, chicken crafts, and hands-on chicken activities. Can’t make it during the day? The library offers a “Glowworm” session at 6 pm on Tuesday, March 12th. Looking ahead to Spring Break, the Thousand Hills Rotarians will offer 30 minute reading and crafting sessions each day (March 12-15) at 10:30 on anti-bullying, as part of their Anti-Bullying Week Campaign.
Saturday, March 9th
Women of Today Craft Show, Kirksville Middle School
Can’t wait until Red Barn? Then join the Kirksville Women of Today this Saturday at the Kirksville Middle School gym. Craft and artisan vendors fill the indoor space selling textile crafts, apparel, home goods and much more. Home-based vendors include Tupperware, Thirty-One, Scentsy, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, among others. This year, proceeds from the event’s concessions will be donated to Kirksville Baseball and Softball Association (KBSA) for scholarships and equipment. The fun starts at 9 am and goes until 3 pm.
Wednesday, March 13th
Creature Feature: Map and Compass, Missouri Department of Conservation-Northeast Regional Office
If you’ve got an amateur outdoorsman in your family don’t miss taking them to the Northeast Regional Office of the Missouri Department of Conservation. This interactive program for children ages 7-12 will focus on navigating nature with a map and compass. Take the kids out for the program which starts at 3:30 pm and walk the hiking trail around the building while they’re in class.
Anytime at All
If the winter weather is getting you down, don’t forget that you can always take a dip where the water is warm at the Kirksville Aquatic Center. Their indoor pool is open for lap swimming daily. Admission is inexpensive and passes are available as well.
