Laypersons in Chillicothe and the surrounding area will begin their 61st year of pre-Easter services on Monday, March 25. The services will continue each day through Friday, March 22. The host church this year is First Baptist Church at 1601 Bryan Street.
Coffee and donuts will be served at the church each morning, from 6:45 until 7:15 a.m. The services begin at 7:15 a.m., each day, and end around 7:45 a.m.
The services will be under the direction of laypersons from Highview Baptist Church on Monday, First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Church of Christ on Wednesday, United Methodist Church on Thursday, and Grace Episcopal Church on Friday.
"The laypersons services are open to all men, women, and children of the community, who are encouraged to join in worship," said Dr. David Neal, one of the service organizers (along with Howard Marshall and Darrel Rinehart). "The community pre-Easter services give all of us a unique opportunity to gather, not necessarily as religious denominations, but as believers in Jesus Christ. The fellowship with other Christians and the message presented in each day's devotional are wonderful ways to prepare our hearts for the events of Good Friday and Easter morning."
