The Chillicothe Area Arts Council will present a cultural luncheon at noon Thursday, March 28, at the Alaska House, 455 Locust, Chillicothe.
The speaker is Quin Grisham, artistic director of the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre. Grisham's program is on "To Kill a Mockingbird," and is being presented by the arts council in conjunction with the Livingston County Library's "One Read" event this March — the community-wide reading of the book "To Kill a Mockingbird."
"I think being a Southerner and also being the son of an attorney has made me an even bigger fan of this wonderful story," Grisham said. "I also grew up in a wildly racist, all-white community — so the book has always been important to me and to my family."
The book was staged as a play by the Lyceum last season under Grisham's direction. He will address some of the issues and considerations in staging such a play, and the impact of his up-bringing on directing the play.
Reservations for the $5 meal need to be turned in by noon Tuesday, March 26, by calling the arts office at 646-1173, or by e-mailing the arts office at arts@ chillicothemo.com. A person does not have to buy lunch to attend the program. Lunch begins at noon and the program runs from 12:25 to 12:55.
