  • Weekend events to raise money for Crohn's disease and cancer research are taking place this weekend in Chillicothe.
The events are being organized by the Showin' for a Cure Committee, a group of people who want to raise money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America and the Cancer Research Institute as well as increase awareness of these diseases. Group members also share a common interest in showing cattle and supporting youth in agriculture.
There will be a 5K / 2K glow run/walk at Simpson Park at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 22, and cattle shows at the Livingston County Fairgrounds at the Litton Ag Center on Saturday and Sunday.
Eighty percent of the profits will be given to the research organizations, with the committee retaining 20 percent to cover start-up costs for next year's event.
A concert featuring Hazzard County at Day's Inn will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, to help raise money as well.
Saturday's Showin' For A Cure Steer and Heifer Show begins at 10 a.m.
