  • Assortment of issues on ballot

  • Election Day is less than two weeks away and an assortment of issues will appear on the ballot.
    The only countywide question is whether to levy a 5-cent tax per $100 assessed valuation to establish the Livingston County Senior Citizens Service Fund.
    One countywide candidate race will be decided on April 2. Voters will choose three members for the Health Center Board of Directors. Four have filed: Darlene Hughes, Alvina Benskin, Doug Doughty, and Marilyn Brodmerkle.
    Residents throughout the county may have an assortment of issues and candidates to consider at the polls.
    Voters in Ambulance District No. 6 will select a director. Two candidates filed: Pat Henry and Alvin Roger Thompson. The district takes in the townships of Cream Ridge, Green, Jackson, Monroe, Mooresville and Sampsel, as well as a portion of Chillicothe Township.
    School Boards
    The Chillicothe R-2 School District will not have an election because just two people filed for the two openings on the Board of Education. Those are current board member Robin Westphal, who filed for re-election, and Robin Quinn, who will fill the vacancy created by David Meneely, whose term is expiring.
    The Southwest Livingston County R-2 School District will have an election for its Board of Education. There are two open seats and three candidates: Orland Oesch, Mark Anderson, and Brad Webb.
    Cities, Townships
    The city of Chillicothe will have an election for city offices; however, there are no races. Incumbent Mayor Chuck Haney has filed for re-election, as did incumbents Rozanne "Roze" Frampton for city clerk, Richard L. Knouse for constable, Theresa Gatson Kelly for auditor, David M. Moore for councilman-at-large, Reed Dupy for 1st Ward councilman, Wayne Cunningham for 2nd Ward councilman, Tom Douglas for 3rd Ward councilman, and former 4th Ward Councilman Paul Howard. Current 4th Ward Councilwoman Pam Jarding did not file for re-election.
    The City of Chula has one opening for North Ward Alderman, and one opening for South Ward Alderman. Two candidates have filed for the North Ward Alderman position: Larry Ward and Thomas Weitzel. No candidates filed for the South Ward position.
    The Town of Ludlow has two openings for board members. One candidate, Alan Miles, has filed for the position.
    The Village of Utica has three openings on its board of trustees. Two candidates have filed: Jason Moore and Jeff McCoy.
    Voters in the City of Wheeling will be voting on mayor, East Ward councilperson, and West Ward councilperson. Darrin Fravel filed for the mayoral position, Kenny Mitchell for East Ward councilperson, and Gary Wayman for West Ward councilperson.
    In Rich Hill Township, David Beck has filed for the position of trustee, and Suzi Beck has filed for the clerk position. Four people filed for the two open board member seats. They are: Aaron Peel, Rick Surber, Jarrod Marshall and Rick "Sarge" Ralls.

    Fairview Township General Road District is asking to continue to levy the current additional tax rate of 35 cents on the $100 valuation, for a period of four years. If approved, the current total tax levy will remain at 35 cents on the $100 valuation.
    Grand River Township General Road District is asking to continue to levy the current additional tax rate of 35 cents on the $100 valuation for a period of four years. If approved, the current total tax levy will remain at 35 cents on the $100 valuation.
    Monroe Township General Road District is asking to continue to levy the current additional tax rate of 35 cents on the $100 valuation, for a period of four years. If approved, the current total tax levy will remain at 35 cents per $100 valuation.
    Mooresville Township General Road District is asking to continue the levy o the current additional tax rate of 35 cents on the $100 valuation, for a period of four years. If approved, the current total tax levy will remain at 35 cents on the $100 valuation.
    Wheeling Township General Road District is asking to continue to levy the current additional tax rate of 35 cents on the $100 valuation, for a period of four years. If approved, the current total tax levy will remain at 35 cents on the $100 valuation.
    Fire District
    The Hale Fire Protection District has one position open on its board for a six-year term. Two candidates have filed: Junior Jones and Ricky Shatto.
    The Mooresville Township Fire Protection District has one opening on its board for a six-year term. No candidates have filed for the position.
    Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.
