  • Vera Maxine King, a resident of St. Charles, Mo., former Chillicothe, Mo., resident, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Parkside Retirement Center, St. Charles, Mo.
    Vera was born the daughter of Evan and Nellie Mabel (Weygandt) Hughes on Dec. 1, 1928, in Dawn, Mo. She married John R.H. King on Aug. 20, 1950, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He survives of the home.

  • Vera Maxine King, a resident of St. Charles, Mo., former Chillicothe, Mo., resident, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Parkside Retirement Center, St. Charles, Mo.
    Vera was born the daughter of Evan and Nellie Mabel (Weygandt) Hughes on Dec. 1, 1928, in Dawn, Mo. She married John R.H. King on Aug. 20, 1950, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He survives of the home.
    She was a 1946 graduate of Chillicothe High School.  She worked as a representative at First National Bank in St. Charles, Mo., for 18 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Chillicothe, Mo. Vera enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
    Survivors include her husband John of the home; two sons, John D. King and wife Mary Ann, St. Charles, Mo., and Curtis Ray King and wife Kim, Loveland, Colo.; two daughters, Deborah K. Nichols, St. Charles, Mo., and Vera (Kathleen) Martin and husband Gary, Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Vera Hughes, Chillicothe, Mo.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Laveta S. Wisehaupt, Mildred M. Hall, and Beatrice A. Hansen; and one brother, Delbert E. Hughes.
    Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 10 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Tuesday from 12 until 9 p.m. Burial will be held at the Welsh Cemetery, Dawn, Mo.
