Jack Kidwell, 86, of Clarence, Mo., died Friday, April 5, 2013, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
He was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Shelby County, Mo., the son of James F. and Blanche E. Smith Kidwell. On May 21, 1948, he married Shirley Ann Tils at Clarence, Mo. She survives.
Jack was a 1945 graduate of Clarence High School. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Clarence Christian Church where he was very active with the youth group and was the bus ministry leader for the church. He also worked with Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch helping children find a better life.
Jack is also survived by four children, Patricia A. Mefford and husband Wayne, Chillicothe, Mo., Carolyn J. Schankenberg and husband Carney, Columbia, Mo., Bruce A. Kidwell and wife Denise, Moore, Okla., and Kenneth L. Kidwell and wife Joyce, Crestview, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Sally Peterson, Jennifer Gwinner, Sheila Mefford, Rachel Kreisher, Derrick Gwinner, Eric Kidwell, Trisha Merrill and Erin DePauw and four great-grandchildren, Grant Peterson, Garrett Peterson, Gabriel Jack Peterson and Makenna DePauw.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Kidwell.
Funeral services were held at 10 am, Monday, April 8, 2013, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence, Mo. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery.
