The cause of a fire that left a Hale man dead on Friday is still under investigation.
Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox reported that around 5:30 p.m. Friday, his staff was dispatched to a location on LIV 387 regarding a possible fatality and vehicle fire.
The investigation showed that Willard Alvin Silvey, 88, of Hale had been in his car which somehow caught on fire. His clothing also caught fire. He was able to exit the vehicle but was unable to survive the incident.
A family member found Silvey and contacted 911. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Chillicothe Department of Emergency Services, Livingston County coroner’s office, and the Missouri Fire Marshall. The cause of the fire and incident remains under investigation.
Funeral services for Silver were held Tuesday.
