Still will play twice at MHS field, just later; Thursday action at Cameron washed out
UPDATED at 3:05 p.m. Thursday
CAMERON — Wet field conditions forced postponement of yet another Chillicothe High School baseball game Thursday – incredibly the Hornets' eighth postponement of the season. They've played only twice, splitting those.
Today's contest was to be at Cameron, but will be rescheduled to an as-yet-undetermined date, according to Dan Nagel, Chillicothe High athletics director. Today's washout follows yesterday's scrubbing of an already-rescheduled, would-be home opener against St. Joseph: Bishop LeBlond. No new date for that contest is in place yet, either.
Because of Wednesday's rain, it has been relayed from host school officials through Nagel, only one field (at the school) will be in playing condition (if there isn't further weather interference) for the 2-day Marshall Invitational Tournament in which Chillicothe is slated to participate.
As a result, the time schedule has been rearranged to accommodate six games there, the Hornets have been reset to meet Windsor on the field immediately south of Marshall High School at 4 p.m. Friday and then play the host school immediately after that (tentatively at 6 p.m.) on the same field. The team bus will leave school at 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to Nagel.
Assuming Friday's play comes off as scheduled, the Hornets – depending on their results from that day – would play once or twice on Saturday. Their first game could be at 10 a.m., 12 noon or 2 p.m.
