After pool split Friday, will face Grain Valley at 2 p.m. Saturday at Marshall

MARSHALL   Following a 4-1 victory over Windsor and 4-3 loss to Marshall Friday, Chillicothe High School's baseball Hornets will go against Grain Valley at 2 p.m. Saturday (April 13) in the semifinals of the Marshall Invitational Tournament.

Grain Valley wound up pool play Friday as its pool's first-place team via a tiebreaker after it, Mexico, and Kirksville each won once and lost once in round-robin action against each other.

Marshall went 2-0, CHS 1-1, and Windsor 0-2 in the Hornets' pool.

The Hornets (2-2) will play twice Saturday – following the semifinal contest with either a 6 p.m. championship game or a 4 p.m. third-place tilt.

Marshall and Kirksville will clash at noon in the other championship semifinal.

Ryan Smith, with relief from Cole Nichols, got the pitching decision in Friday's CHS win. Reliever Troy Toedebusch took the game 2 loss when a 1-out, suicide-squeeze bunt with the bases full in the bottom of the seventh snapped a 3-3 tie.
