On April 5th, the Southwest Band of Southwest Livingston R-I under the direction of Bryan Duddy performed at the MSHSAA Large Ensemble Festival at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
For the first time in 15 years, the band earned an Honor I rating, one of two that performed in the morning. The band performed two pieces American Patrol Arranged by Ed Huckeby and Northpointe Fantasy by James Swearingen.
The members of the band includes both junior high and high school students and they are Emma Rademacher (9) flute, Shelby Goedeke (8) flute, Elizabeth Warren (11) clarinet, Sarah Mason (8) clarinet, Aaron Moore (12) clarinet, Mathew Bartz( 12) trumpet, Maritza Chavez (10) trumpet, Nikki Bryant (8) trumpet, Brad Sackery (7) trumpet, Madelyn Warren (8) French horn, Allie Hansel (7) trombone, David Moore (9) euphonium, Taran Smith (12) percussion, Skylar Owens-Clark (9) percussion, and Samantha Jeffers (7) percussion.
“The school and the community could not be anymore proud of how well the students performed while earning the first Honor I rating in fifteen years,” said Duddy.
