The reorganization of the Chillicothe R-2 Board of Education will take place at tomorrow (Tuesday, April 16) night's regular school board meeting.
There were two seats on the board that had become open, one in which Robin Westphal filed for re-election and the other will be filled by Robin Quinn, filling the vacancy created by David Meneely, whose term is expiring.
The newly-organized board will discuss a report from the Chillicothe Salary and Welfare Committee and continued discussion will be held for contracted food service. The board had voted to go to bid for a food service management company during the last regular session held in March. At that time, the board was speaking with representatives from family-owned and operated food service management company Opaa! out of Chesterfield, Mo.
Action is expected to be taken on a Middle School Athletic Co-op request. Last year, the Chillicothe R-2 Middle School partnered with Bishop Hogan for athletics. Last year was the first year for the co-op, which has to be voted on each year for renewal.
“This was our first year with co-oping with them," said Tim Cool, Middle School Athletic Director. He went on to say that it is an agreement that will have to be renewed each year and that since it has already passed through the board and was approved last year, it should be just a simple vote.
Other topics on the board agenda include:
Declaration of surplus property and consideration sale of surplus equipment;
Consider MPER MU Fellows agreement;
District mowing bids; and
Special meeting date consideration.
The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Administrative Building on old Highway 36. A closed executive session is also scheduled.
